Pressure Makes Us

On July 17, 2011 By

When I lived in Japan, I was lucky enough to be present for the 2006 World Cup.  Having met Japan’s goalie, Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi, in 2005, I was a huge fan of the team and enjoyed many Jubilo Iwata soccer games during the regular season.  During the 2006 World Cup, met up with my J-friends and [...]

A Gnome Affair

On June 4, 2011 By

My friend Michelle has been an awesome friend since my return to San Diego.  She’s been one of the most instrumental people in helping me settle-in and re-establish myself in my hometown.  She also happens to be well connected.  So was the case today, when we attended the Padre game.

Her boss, Doug is married [...]

Opening Day!

On April 5, 2011 By

When tickets went on sale, I looked online, but found that all of the “good” seats were already taken. StubHub was selling tickets at ridiculous prices.  It was a pretty simple goal – I wanted to be at Padres Opening Day and I wanted that to be the first time I went to PETCO Park.

A quick note today to wrap up the World Cup coverage on Japan.  I watched the game last night and bit my nails watching Japan suffer a heartbreaking loss to Paraguay, loosing by penalty kicks.  It was Komano’s kick that missed the goal, and I just hope this talented player is not holding the responsibility [...]

Japan 1: Cameroon 0

On June 14, 2010 By

For Japan’s World Cup Opener, I was at home, alone, wearing my blue jersey.  Apparently, none of my friends in Hanoi were interested to watch Japan compete (???).  That’s a shame because the game was really exciting.  And at the end of 90 minutes, Japan WON!!!!  In a World Cup which has started off with [...]

Rock climbing 101

On December 12, 2009 By

The intention was to go out to Halong Bay for a site inspection for a program we want to add on our tour.  The result was me strapped up in climbing gear, reaching the end of the rope with a big smile on my face.

Onslo greeted me at the pier and after hopping on [...]

Yaaay for Rio!

On October 1, 2009 By

Of course we all learned today that Rio de Janeiro will be the 2016 host for the Olympics.  I have to say – Wooo Hooo!   I was pulling for them simply for the fact that no South American country has ever hosted the Olympics.  I think it’s time to boraden our horizons a bit [...]
