Repeat Author.
I loved this book. I have been a great fan of Lisa Jewell's work and I don't enjoy writing a negative review but this was so disappointing. Well, clearly not ALL of them were likeable, but I did enjoy disliking the other ones. Everything in Libby’s life is about to change. Her characters are reliably unreliable, her mysteries are unnervingly twisty, and she manages to do all that without sacrificing well-developed relationships and emotionally layered characters. Definitely worth the read. Please try again. I thought this book was very poor - unbelievable plot lines and weak characters. Little Fires Everywhere: A Novel Downstairs in the kitchen lay three dead bodies, all dressed in black, next to a hastily scrawled note. It is not so difficult for a stranger to step into some else’s life and slowly take control - and it is all too easy for children and families to slip below the radar. I've also reached a point in my career where I've got the confidence to go as dark as I feel like I need to go. No Kindle device required.
Such a good book.
Such an interesting and crazy read. I find the plot entirely believable. : ) I didn't like the way the ending seemed very rushed and the fact that the cover promises a "twist" and there wasn't one as far as I could see. I enjoyed it, but the ending could have been so much better - very rushed ending. Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote.
It was a struggle to finish it. The Girls in the Garden: A Novel Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote. The characters and the world within which they move is less attractive than before and I found the tension weakening towards the end rather than driving forward to a powerful climax. Quick take. Excellent choice. Fascinated by cults? Our Little Lies: An absolutely gripping psychological thriller with a brilliant twist
Yes - it felt like I had to put a bit of thought into trying to work out how everyone linked up - but a great book should not simply be an easy read. Said mansion just happens to be the location where her parents were found dead 25 years ago (of course!!). She takes the tea bag out of the mug and sits down. 3. | Books › Mystery, Thriller & Suspense ... like she’s had a strong coffee. Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote.

This book held my interest from start to finish. by Lisa Jewell. The Family Upstairs was a brilliant read and I barely put it down until I had finished. Allowing for the fact that there was a 10 day gap when I wasn’t reading this book, I found it long and drawn out. The Family Upstairs (Book) : Jewell, Lisa : "Soon after her twenty-fifth birthday, Libby Jones returns home from work to find the letter she's been waiting for her entire life. I love getting the perspective of each character throughout the book.
From the Ashes: My Story of Being Métis, Homeless, and Finding My Way The story line was a little depressing too. Now an adult, she is stunned to receive a letter not only informing her who her mom and dad were, but also notifying her that she is the sole beneficiary of their abandoned London mansion. There is the same quality of writing, with shades of Donna Tartt at times, and I can't find higher praise than that, but neither plot nor characters were as compelling as in the other novels.
I read it in 2 sittings and I loved it! She rips it open with one driving thought: I am finally going to know who I am.She soon learns not only the identity of her birth parents, but also that she is the sole inheritor of their abandoned mansion on the banks of the Thames in London’s fashionable Chelsea neighborhood, worth millions. The plot twists were very entertaining and well written.
I didn't like any of the characters so therefore spent the entire book not giving a damn, despite the many "twists" each one became another "who cares" Great author, horrendous book. Love books that I can't put down! Judgment Cometh: and That Right Soon (Joe Dillard Book 8)
