If you've had a conditional firm choice accepted – and therefore made into an unconditional firm choice – you could potentially swap your place for one on another course you prefer. How do I find a place? Under certain circumstances students can make a late application for a place on one of our degree programmes through UCAS Clearing and Adjustment. If you have an idea of the universities you might like to contact, make sure you research them before you call them – you may be asked why you want to attend that particular medical school on the phone, so make sure you have an answer! You can use clearing to find a place at medical school if you didn’t receive your offers, declined the offers you did receive or didn’t get the grades to meet your offers.Read on to find out which medical schools offer Clearing places, how to apply for medicine through Clearing – and what to do if you can’t get a place this way.UCAS Clearing allows medical schools to fill the spaces on their courses – this means they can open these spaces to students who may have the grades required to gain a place but may not have received offers at other universities.The universities offering clearing places differ from year to year – take a look at the table below to see which universities are offering clearing places for medicine. It’s important to note that, due to the competitive nature of medicine, limited places are available through Clearing, so don’t be disheartened if you can’t gain a place this way. Oxford University has no places available through UCAS Extra, UCAS Clearing or UCAS Adjustment for A100 Medicine.

Ucas Adjustment kicks off on A-level results day and gives you the chance to switch onto an alternative university or course should you wish to. The University of Cambridge is planning to participate in the UCAS Adjustment process this summer (2020). Many students choose to take a gap year to strengthen their application, and reapply the next year. Here is some advice from a Swansea Graduate who has been through Medicine Clearing. Unlike Clearing, there is no advertised list of Adjustment places. I originally applied for Medicine, but was rejected from three out of four choices, and put on the waiting list for Aberdeen. UCAS Adjustment offers a similar service, but is for students who have got higher grades than they were expecting.
