I love the story but think this may be a rare occasion where the movie is better than the book. I joined the Army, not the only reason however, I couldn’t find a decent job. This was a really hard one for me because I wanted to love Woodlawn. Yet it is a good story. Caddy is born in the age of cow-boys and Indians, so it can't not be exciting! Published I could see how the format could turn some people off to the book (the first half of the book gives an allocation of a full chapter to a single person's history and then the last half is one football season at a time), but I still enjoyed it nonetheless.
